Senior Project Engineer

Pay   $100-135K a year

How you’ll spend your time as a Project Engineer:


  • Act as the primary technical point of contact between customers, toolmakers, and internal production teams.
  • Oversee the full tooling lifecycle, including design review, material selection, and final delivery.
  • Provide expert guidance to customers to optimize part design for efficient, high-quality molding.
  • Ensure all tooling is production-ready and partner with the floor to troubleshoot process-related issues.
  • Communicate timelines, milestones, and program updates clearly to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Collaborate with quality, automation, and tool room teams to maintain high manufacturing standards.


Skills & experience we’d like you to have as a Project Engineer:


  • 5+ years of experience in plastics manufacturing, specifically within injection molding.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience (associate’s degree or non-degreed) is highly valued.
  • Strong background in plastic part design and mold construction/functionality.
  • Practical experience working with injection molding presses and troubleshooting in a live production environment.
  • Proven ability to manage customer relationships and translate technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Excel.

Full job description


TDI, Inc. is a minority owned (ISO 9001:2000, UL and ITAR registered) custom injection molder of thermoplastics with finishing and assembly capabilities. Located in St. Croix Falls, WI.


Duties:


  • Support the execution of custom plastic molding projects from concept through production
  • Collaborate with customers, tooling suppliers, production, and quality teams to ensure new and existing products are launched on time, within budget, and in compliance with technical and quality requirements
  • Review customer specifications, part drawings, and material requirements for manufacturability
  • Lead engineering of new product introduction (NPI), from design review through production approval
  • Support mold design reviews (Design for Manufacturing) and process development activities
  • Create part drawings using Solidworks
  • Establish and validate molding processes (including trials, sampling, and capability studies)
  • Interface with customers daily during project execution
  • Coordinate with suppliers on tooling, materials, and external processes

2nd Shift Production Supervisor – TIERED SIGN ON BONUS!!


Pay: From $28.00 per hour/DOQ


Job Summary: We are seeking a proactive and experienced Working Production Shift Supervisor to lead daily operations within our production facility. The ideal candidate will ensure production efficiency, maintain safety standards, and lead/instruct a team of workers on the production floor. This role requires strong leadership skills, mechanical knowledge, and experience with injection molding processes to ensure smooth shift transitions and continuous improvement.


2nd Shift: 2:30 p.m. – 11:15 p.m. (Monday – Friday)


Starting Pay from: $28.00 per hour/DOQ

Shift Diff: + $1.00/hour


$2,000 TIERED SIGN-ON BONUS!!!


Responsibilities:


  • Lead and coordinate activities on the production lines
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and company policies at all times
  • Operates company equipment - pallet jacks, hand carts, forklifts as needed
  • Assist in training new team members on equipment operation and safety procedures
  • Conduct regular inspections of machinery and work areas to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to troubleshoot mechanical issues and minimize downtime
  • Provides quality products per customer and Q.A. specifications through proper utilization of equipment and trained team members.
  • Meets or exceeds production schedules with quality products as planned by production control. Communicated all deviations of plan problems with the planner and Plant Manager.
  • Accountable for accuracy and completion of all production documents.
  • Ensure O.S.H.A. compliance along with corporate safety standards are met through training as directed by safety team.
  • Communicate to other shifts/departments by performing a walk through and/or using the Work Center Log at the beginning and end of each shift.


Requirements:


  • Proven experience in injection molding environment, preferably in a supervisory role
  • IQMS experience highly desired
  • Plastic Molding Injection experience: 3+ years
  • Mold Technician experience: 3+ years
  • Supervisory experience: 3+ years
  • Ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently
  • Familiarity with production processes including assembly, equipment maintenance, and quality control
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team effectively
  • Knowledge of safety regulations within a production or warehouse setting
  • Prior experience working with assembly lines or in a factory environment is preferred
  • Ability to work collaboratively within departments

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Injection Molding Technician to join our 2nd Shift team.


  • 1. Job Description: Set up, start, operate, trouble shoot and tear down plastic injection molding machines.
  • 2. General Responsibilities: Set up and tear down molding machines, Start and trouble shoot molding machines, Set up and tear down auxiliary equipment (drill press, air press welder etc.). Work with quality and engineering as needed, perform equipment safety checks, Assist in training of operators.
  • 3. Physical Requirements: While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands occasionally climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • 4. Competencies: Able to properly operate basic hand tools (wrench, screwdriver, hammer, etc.). Knowledge of/or ability to learn IQMS, press controls and auxiliary equipment. Ability to read and write English. Basic shop math. Must become fork truck operator certified. Items on this list will be verified or demonstrated through satisfactory completion of the defined probationary period.
  • 5. Other desired traits: Material handling experience, familiarity with Lean manufacturing, experience in a plastic injection molding environment, supervisory experience. Prefer 4-5 years’ processing experience.

Mold Maker - 1st Shift

Mold Maker – 1st Shift


Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated, talented mold maker to join our expanding Tool Room Team. This position will entail the ability to build, repair, and alter, molds and fixtures of extremely complex and precise nature. You will develop strategies in fabricating designed molds, using the appropriate machining techniques.

  

1st Shift: Monday - Friday


Starting Pay from: $35.00 per hour/DOQ

Responsibilities:


  • Work cooperatively with fellow employees and provide guidance whenever needed
  • If assigned, supervise an apprentice in an efficient manner
  • Operate all equipment in the shop efficiently and with no supervision
  • Diagnose and correct problems in complicated molds, tools and fixtures
  • Has complete knowledge in the use and application of all tool steels and related materials for the building of complicated molds
  • Grind and fit components together with tolerances of +/-.0002
  • Will inspect /Q.C. parts per customer’s CAD files and have working knowledge of S.P.C and geometric tolerance
  • Create CNC paths in Mastercam
  • Plan, schedule, and complete job to meet desired delivery date within the amount of time quoted
  • Build molds from conception drawings/layouts/part models.
  • Read and interpret prints, electronic data, and correct any errors before cutting steel
  • Disassemble and trouble-shoot problems with a mold and arrive with a plan of action to correct the problem within a reasonable cost and time span with some supervision.
  • Build electrodes for EDM process of extreme complexity with no supervision
  • Plan and program EDM machine to run unattended, overnight, or weekends whenever possible, with supervision.
  • Help develop and document new procedures to make it more efficient on machine tools
  • Perform any inspection procedures efficiently and in a cost-effective manner with no supervision
  • Assemble a mold of any complexity with no supervision
  • Is capable of wiring a complete runner-less mold with supervision.
  • Is capable of figuring out the timing on a rack and gear mold and assembling molds with hydraulic cylinders, with supervision
  • Produce a mold of the quality designed on the prints with the best workmanship possible. This means no weld, shims or plating build ups.
  • Adhere to current safety standards
  • Perform other related duties as required by the Tool Room Manager.


Requirements:


  • Good knowledge of Cam software – (Mastercam preferred)
  • Associate degree from trade school in machine tool trades, should have 8+ years of injection molding experience.
  • Must have strong skill base in the principles of mold construction keeping tooling maintenance concerns as a high priority.
  • Extensive degree of mental and visual attention is required
  • Basic computer skills; knowledge of IQMS a plus
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal
  • Attention to detail/detail oriented/organized
